John Edelman is Chief Executive Officer of Design Within Reach. Edelman joined DWR in 2010, bringing more than 30 years of experience in consumer-focused lifestyle brands. An active furniture collector, he was named the quintessential Modern Man by Robb Report in 2018.

Mr. Edelman is a graduate of Manhattanville College. He served on the Board of Directors for luxury bath retailer Waterworks for seven years (2009–2016), and he now serves on the Boards for the Philip Johnson Glass House, handbag designer Carlos Falchi and the Wooster School. In addition, he serves on the Board of Trustees for DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS), on the Advisory Council for the Design Leadership Network, as President of Be Original Americas and as Senior Vice President of Herman Miller. As a former Board Member and investor in Waterworks, he helped turn around the company, facilitating its eventual sale to Restoration Hardware in 2015. Mr. Edelman is conversationally proficient in Portuguese, Italian, French and Spanish. He lives in Ridgefield, Connecticut, with his wife, Bonnie, who’s a recognized photographer, and their two children.
